Simple Spring Sewing " Color Pallets"

Colourlovers.com

As soon as I am better I am going to do a little spring sewing. So I am in search of spring pallets to use in my material choices. Do you ever wonder about matching up colors? There is a wonderful website just for color inspiration and trying out color pallets. If you create any quilts, sewing projects, crafts or just need inspiration you might like to visit my page Colourlovers.com.
(main link at image) I had never made anything there until today, as I am still on the mend yet trying to get some creativity in. I will have more posts coming on "Simple Sewing Projects."
Do you have any tips to making fabric choices simple? from colors to patterns? How do you match your threads? Lighter or darker when sewing? I would love to hear from you~

This week your finding me having taken a detour. Hubby has had a cold and has shared it with me, the achy kind. I will be finding something soft and sweet to wear under my housecoat while grabbing books and hot tea and laying on the couch! I will be dreaming of finding a shelf to decorate like this one while napping. I think I might have to rethink my color scheme for the kitchen when we get around to painting~ I just love the romantic feel and how a few little touches can change a space! How about you? I hope to post later this weekend, but forgive me if it isn't until next week. ~Back to resting and dreaming of feeling as happy as the girl in my journal page, maybe I'll take the opportunity to write a little entry there~

Sweet Memories That Nature Inspires

The smell of a beautiful flower, or the sight of a bloom just after the rain, the feel of wind on your face at the beach or the sand on your finger tips and the Earth's treasures you find~

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~Kahlil Gibran

When they do I will do a short review and let you know what projects I am going to do. In the mean time I came across this tutorial for a simple reversible bag! Earth Day

I thought I would share one of my journal pages with stamped dragon flies and flowers on it~
If you would like to see my Earth day post with images of the Earth and quotes I have at my other site just click here.

I think it is important to remember how fragile our Earth is. I came across some great ways to go green from Target scroll to the bottom to see them, they are also having a sweepstakes~

I must admit that even Martha Stewart has some great magazine posts and products coming out that support green living~ Click here to see a slide show of eco Chic ideas for your home from Martha~ An article on natural cleaning products click here and her new line of home cleaning products here.

No I am not an affiliate or getting anything about writing about this, but what I am trying to say is it is easier now more than ever to choose what products you use, reuse and don't use to help our environment. What things do you do to help the earth? What are your favorite products that are environment friendly? Do you recycle or compost? I would love to hear from you~

Simple Reupholstry of Dining Chairs

Chair pads in need of help!
Fabric found at a yard sale on a bolt~ ( and cheap!!)
Tools you need~
Pinning and Trimmings
The final look~

It really isn't that hard to redo dining chairs. Here's a simple tutorial for you~
You need:
Scissors
Pins
Screwdrivers
Staple gun and staples
Fabric

First flip over your chair and unscrew the seat. If seat is not worn out it is very simple to cover. Measure your fabric plus add 3-4 " to each side for folding, allowing for trimming and lining up if you have stripes.
Cut your measured squares. From fabric.
Place material right over chair pad and line up fabric not pulling too tightly if you have stripes.
Pin your fabric in place on the top side all around edges of chair pad.
Flip over chair pad and tuck under edges after cutting off excess on the bottom of chair pad and pin in place all around chair pad. ( don't forget to pull corners tight, cut off excess and fold under seams)
Once all pinned double check how front/top looks prior to stapling.
If you are happy with the look~ Staple in place. Watch out for any prior nails/ staples if going over a cover without removing!
When you are done, screw back the chair pad in place! It is worth trying if you have never done it! That is it! I did eight dining chairs in about 3 1/2 hours on a rainy day!

Tea Cup Tuesday Time

Photo credits: Marie Claire Idees via Clamity Kim on Flick

Festive, Creative and Pink too~
What is not to love about these tea cup images. When I saw them my heart skipped a beat and I had to share. These images make me want a sea cottage even more with a room to create a pink tea parlor. Even on the foggiest day the pink would lift your spirit as you raised your tea cup in hand to warm your body & soul ~ Imagine ~
How nice it would be to steep a cup of strawberry tea after a nice walk on the beach.

Tea Cup Tuesday

This is a Wedgewood Deco Bloom Tea Cup and Saucer from the Harlequin collection. With all the blooms outside I thought it fitting to share this tea cup. This pattern was reintroduced by Wedgewood due to fashions current love affair with vintage. The tea cup pattern was modelled on an original design discovered in the Wedgewood and Coalport Archives held by the Wedgewood Museum Trust. 2009 Fine bone china.

The pattern reminded me of this flower that I took a photograph of from a botanical garden. I don't know the name of it, but could envision someone sketching spring blossoms to design the pattern while sitting out in a garden while sipping tea on a lovely spring day~

Don't forget to visit all the other lovely ladies on Tea Cup Tuesday the link is on the sidebar. Until next time don't forget to enjoy a cup of tea outside when the weather permits and see spring in all its glory~
